Trauma-Informed Yoga Flow
Classes are Sundays at 3:00pm. Register each week to sign up to attend.
Everyone experiences trauma differently, facing a wide range of emotional and physical symptoms. Trauma can be a one-time distressing occurrence or an on-going series of events. Either way, it leaves an imprint on the mind-body system. Trauma-Informed Yoga can help to regulate this system, especially partnered with other therapeutic methods.
Hatha Yoga is a traditional, healing practice, that combines physical movement through yoga postures (asanas), breathing exercises, and meditation. This class focuses on centering the mind and body through gentle stretching with modifications for every level. Props such as blocks, blankets, and bolsters are used in order to assist the body during the class to calm the body and reduce strain or pain.
Trauma-informed Yoga may improve stress levels, fatigue, depression, anxiety, and symptoms of PTSD. Hatha yoga focuses on increasing circulation, strengthening connective tissue, and expanding the mind-body connection. This class is for all levels, from beginners to advanced practitioners. Modifications for all poses will be giving and practitioners are encouraged to follow their personal physical and mental needs through the practice. The instructor will assist in positioning throughout the class.
If interested, please register, to reserve a spot. Equipment will be provided, but individuals are encouraged to bring their own yoga mat.
